5150 Swim School 

Our swimming lessons program  is designed to build confidence, safety, and strong technique step-by-step. Each level focuses on specific skills to help swimmers progress at their own pace. Lessons generally take place during June and July and are held as two-week sessions (Monday-Thursday). Group and private lessons are available.

Group Lessons 

  • Ages 5+

  • Up to 4 swimmers per class

  • 30-minute sessions

  • Small group setting for personalized instruction

  • 9:00 – 9:30 AM

  • 9:45 – 10:15 AM

  • 10:30 – 11:00 AM

  • 11:15 – 11:45 AM

Private Lessons 

  • Ages 3+ (potty trained)

  • One-on-one instruction (1:1)

  • 30-minute sessions

  • Fully individualized coaching and skill progression

Level 1: Water Comfort & Foundation

Focus: Air exchange, floating, and body control

  • Bobs (breath control)

  • Rolling: stomach ↔ back

  • Ball float, front float, back float

  • Streamline position

  • Ready positions on wall (back & side)

Level 4: Freestyle & Backstroke

Focus: Stroke development and coordination

  • Side glide kicking

  • 7 kick switch / 5 kick switch drills

  • 7-3-7 drill

  • Backstroke progression

  • Freestyle progression

Level 2: Body Movement & Kicking

Focus: Push-offs, kicking, and core movement

  • Push off wall on side → roll to stomach (streamline)

  • Push off wall on back → maintain back position

  • Flutter kicking (all directions)

    • With flotation

    • Without flotation

  • Body dolphin (chest & hips – intro to undulation)

Level 5: Breaststroke & Water Safety

Focus: Endurance, technique, and survival skills

  • Treading water

  • Legal breaststroke (pull, breathe, kick, glide)

  • Distance per stroke (DPS)

  • Survival swimming & deep water safety

Level 3: Breaststroke Kick Development

Focus: Proper and effective breaststroke kick

  • Legal breaststroke kick

  • Propulsive movement

  • Supported & unsupported practice

  • Glide with dolphin pull-down kick (DPK)

Level 6: Advanced Skills & Techniques

Focus: Competitive skills and efficiency

  • Legal butterfly

  • Underwater dolphin kick in streamline

  • Starts (forward & backstroke)

  • Open turns

  • Flip turns

5150 Swim Lessons Director

Paige Carr

In her third year as Assistant Swim Coach at NC, Paige brings extensive experience from her background as an ocean lifeguard, swim instructor, and multi-sport athlete in Southern California. She has coached and supervised swim programs while also teaching third grade in Natrona County School District, combining her passion for education and athletics. Paige emphasizes swimming as both a competitive sport and an essential life skill that builds confidence in and out of the water.
